Welcome to our cabins  in the Southern Oregon Cascades.  If you're looking for a place to launch your adventure of the Crater Lake area or just sit in the shade near the cool Rogue River these cabins are just  for you!

The Cabins are each a one hour drive through Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest and Crater Lake National Park to reach the rim of Crater Lake.  There are many things to see along the way including Natural Bridge on the Rogue & Rogue River Gorge.  Historic Union Creek Resort offers Becky’s Café which specializes in Huckleberry Pie…a local favorite.  The small town of  Prospect is located near the cabins.  There you will find Prospect Pizza, a small grocery, a local cafe and a gas station. The Prospect Historic Hotel offers an elegant Dinner House open during the summer months.  Just below Prospect there is a trailhead leading to Mill Creek and Barr Creek Falls and the Avenue of the Boulders on the north fork of the Rogue.  Just across the road from the Prospect Store you will find the trailhead to Pearsoney Falls.

There is access to all aspects of the Wild and Scenic Rogue River from its headwaters  to the main river below Lost Creek Lake. There are areas for rafting novices as well as seasoned rafters and kayakers. There are fantastic views of the river and quiet, out of the way places to see and enjoy it.

The owners, Steve and Janna, have lived and worked in Southern Oregon all their lives. They have a combined 50 years of work experience with the US Forest Service and can be a useful source of information about local sights, native plants and the wild animals in the area as well as local history.

There is no phone at either cabin but if you need to keep in touch there is cell phone coverage in this area.

Red Blanket Cabin is named for the beautiful Red Blanket Creek located within easy walking distance of the cabin.  Toss in your lure or take a dip for a bit of High Cascade refreshment and fun.  You can also take a wildlife safari drive to the top of Red Blanket Mountain which offers awesome views of the surrounding areas and, of course, wildlife.  Our son and his wife spotted a beautiful cinnamon colored bear up there earlier this year.

The Cabin is a custom built 2 bedroom, one bath home with many amenities located in the rural Cascade mountains of Southern Oregon. Designed for a maximum of 4 people (no children under 12) it is a showcase for the owners woodworking talent.  Locally cut rough sawn cedar siding and pine & cedar interior walls are accented with custom woodwork throughout the Cabin which is nestled on a wooded acre on the outskirts of Prospect, OR (pop. 500).  Don't let the word cabin fool you.  There is nothing rustic about the full service kitchen, sleep number king-sized bed in the master bedroom, modern bathroom and entertainment center. The second bedroom is located upstairs and boasts a standard queen bed.  You can also enjoy your day on the comfortable front porch or large patio area out back with a fire pit for outdoor entertaining.  An air conditioning unit will provide respite from the summer heat.

The grounds are well kept, encircled by young ponderosa pine trees with plenty of bird watching on and near the property. If you are looking for a peaceful place to get away from your hectic life this is it. Leave the kids and pets behind and find renewal and relaxation in this calming country setting.  Our home is designed with relaxation and comfort in mind so take your ease.

Big Tree Cabin is a 1920’s cabin that has been fully updated and brought into the modern age with red oak hardwood floors throughout as well as tiled bath and laundry.  We have mixes of antique, vintage and new throughout.  We have kept the connection with nature and combined it with handmade simplicity and country warmth.

As you enter the living area you will find a comfortable couch and loveseat complimented by vintage end tables.  In that area there is a flat screen TV with DVD player.  Listen to “Old Blue Eyes” on the turntable unit that will also allow you to get modern with CD’s and MP3’s.  Blued pine walls add to the warmth of this area. The dining room opens into the kitchen in an airy, welcoming way.  French doors lead from the dining room out to a small open deck overlooking a secluded area of the property.  Watch the songbirds in the trees or listen to the Osprey high above, chirping or catch a glimpse of a bald Eagle as he tries to invade the Osprey’s nesting area.

Have a comfortable meal or refreshing drink on one of the porches. The covered front porch has a nice dining table for morning coffee or evening meals. The covered back porch has two Adirondack chairs to relax in with a view of the Cascade Mountains in sunrise or sunset.  Below the deck leading out of the dining room there is a gas BBQ and a small patio set for casual dining.

The kitchen has all the modern amenities with range, refrigerator, dishwasher and Microwave.  The arched window allows a view of Union Peak, located in Crater Lake National Park and Bessie Rock which is on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Bathroom and laundry speak for themselves with tiled floors and appealing colors.  The bathroom has a shower and plenty of towels for the guests.  The laundry has washer and dryer provided so your laundry needs can be met while you are traveling.

The first bedroom, located off the dining area, offers a queen size Select Comfort Sleep Number bed.  There is extra bedding and pillows available to make your stay more comfortable. The second bedroom is dubbed the “Sun Room”.  It has a standard queen size bed and offers a sunrise view of the Cascade Range and Union Peak.  It has a private deck with comfortable Adirondack chairs for relaxing on a summer evening.

The home is surrounded by majestic Douglas fir, Ponderosa Pine and Incense Cedar.  Most of these trees can be considered “Old Growth” by local standards.  Many of them are 150+ years of age.  This area was once heavily timbered until it was settled in the mid to late 1800’s.  These trees are some of the reminders of what things were like back then. The cabin is located in what we consider a rural neighborhood near Prospect, OR and is on 5 acres so there is plenty of privacy.

Lost Creek Lake is located about 3 miles south of the cabin  and is a great place for fishing, boating and swimming. The marina located there has a small restaurant, fishing supplies and boat rentals.  There is a small grocery with gas located just a mile from the cottage.
